Team Overview

Team Flyquest is the latest team on the NA LCS scene, coming into the LoL world right at the start of 2017. Founded by Wesley R. Edens, part owner of Milwaukee Bucks and co-founder of the $70 billion Fortress Investment Group, this new deal further establishes esports as a major competitive force, with Flyquest one of five NA LCS teams whose owners have NBA ties.

Once Cloud9 Challenger won promotion to the NA LCS in August 2016, something had to change due to the 2014 KeSPA rule banning one organisation fielding multiple teams. Cloud9 sold the spot in the NA LCS to Edens along with four player contracts for a reported $2.5 million.
Flyquest are a team with big dreams, fresh, young and ambitious. This is a team looking to push their way to the top quickly, and their mix of ex-Challenger veterans and fresh talent has ensure they hit the ground running. Based in their California team house, they’re currently 8th in the NA LCS standings and 39th in the world.

Branding & Sponsorship

Flyquest’s jerseys are no less than gorgeous, gold and white with a split across the jersey. Similarly, the Flyquest logo is a very stylish, an eyeball inside the Q with a stylised couple of Fs acting as wings. As a new team with the massive backing of Edens, they currently have no sponsors, but the team will no doubt quickly add these over this season. You can follow the team’s streams on Twitch and Reddit.

Team Roles, Expertise, Divisions

Hai “Hai” Lam plays mid-laner for Flyquest and has a great ability to shot-call, automatically making him the team leader. With back-up from LemonNation and Balls, it’s Hai who could propel Flyquest to great heights in this debut season. Veteran LoL top-laner An “Balls” Le is ready to serve as the team’s muscle. Support LemonNation teams up once more with AD-Carry Johnny “Altec” Ru in the bot lane.
Finishing the starting line-up is Galen “Moon” Holgate, a raw jungler whose time in the LCS with Team Liquid for the 2016 NA LCS Summer Split was hit by nerves and under-performance. Moon has a big point to prove and he’s certainly off to a great start.

Roster & Achievements

This new team is already making a mark, with its active roster of Hai, Balls, Moon, Altec and LemonNation. They appeared at the March 2017 Spring Split looking raw and new, but coming out strong. Mid-split saw them stall but eventually they came out with a great 5th place for Spring Split.
The April 2017 NA LCS Spring Playoffs brought the team their first premier winnings, getting to the semi-finals before falling to Phoenix 1 in a hard fought 2:3 result that placed them 4th.
This is a team that’s got the sense of a wild card about it, and lots of fans think that they can beat almost anyone on their day. These new kids on the esports block will be ones to watch in 2017.
