Introduction / Team Overview

Counter Logic Gaming are an esports organisation from North America, having been founded by George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis back in 2010. As a result, the Counter Logic League of Legends team is the oldest still active to this day, alongside their Halo, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Black Ops 3 rosters. Counter Logic Gaming have competed in every single Split of the North American League of Legends Championship Series since its inauguration back in 2013, winning the NA LCS Split on two occasions. The organisation was also one of the first to invest in a multi-gaming house, with their residence housing all their major rosters, along with management and staff.


Highlights / Strengths

Counter Logic won both the WCG Grand Finals and the Newegg Winter Wanfest in their first season within LoL, continuing their impressive form over the following seasons. In 2011, Counter Logic Gaming LoL team finished top of the standings in the National ESL Premier League, IEM Season VI and the MLG Raleigh. Despite seeing their levels of success waver in recent years, victories in the 2015 NA LCS Summer Playoffs and 2016 NA LCS Spring Playoffs mean that they are still regarded as one of the finest LoL teams in history.

Branding / Sponsorship / Logo

As the oldest LoL team in the industry, it comes as little surprise that Counter Logic Gaming have formed many lucrative partnerships, with sponsorship deals involving Ibuypower, Corsair, Intel and live-streaming platform, Twitch. Having disbanded CLG Black, the team’s logo, jersey and desktop site wallpaper all utilise the colour blue, which has now become synonymous with Counter Logic Gaming.

Team Roles / Expertise/Divisions

Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaha is a relative veteran when it comes to the LoL industry now, having joined the team to bring stability to the top lane. Darshan is known for his deep knowledge within the game, with his ability to pick champions that expose weaknesses in opponent’s games. Elsewhere in the Counter Logic Gaming roles, Jake “Xmithie” Puchero is another veteran in the NA LoL scene, with the jungle able to build teams around his assets. Meanwhile, Jaehyun “Huhi” Choi joined the team back in 2015, and the Mid has helped to improve their options in this area. Having previously played in Korea and the NA Challenger Series, Huhi helped the team to the NA LCS Championship.

Roster & Achievements

With the Counter Logic Gaming LoL team being based in North America, their roster is dominated with US players, with a single Canadian, South Korean and Filipino player completing their squad. Alongside Darshan, Xmithie and Huhi, Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes has worked his way into the starting ADC position, having initially began as a sub, while Zaqueri “aphromoo” Black is one of the finest support players around, with his skill known throughout the industry. His understanding with the rest of the players played a major part in helping them to win the Spring Split, as well as finishing second at the Mid-Season Invitational.
